Be a Merrymaker: Add Sparkle Everyday with Quick Fun Ideas

merrymaker's manifesto

Hey there, Merrymaker — I’m so happy you’re here. 💖

We spend so much of our lives waiting for the big moments — birthdays, vacations, seasonal holidays, milestones — that we forget how much magic is tucked inside an ordinary Thursday afternoon. Being a Merrymaker is about rediscovering the everyday sparkle of quick fun ideas to create happy memories for you, your family, or crew of friends.

The Heart of “Quick Fun”

“Quick fun” isn’t about balloon arches, spotless kitchens before you invite someone in, or picture-perfect Pinterest parties. The goal is to take you beyond moving through your day “checking boxes” by adding a few minutes of fun.

It’s about tiny, joyful sparks that fit into real life — between errands, carpool lines, and reheating coffee for the third time. Just small, doable joy where a beautiful life sneaks in.

A joyful spark is:

  • Welcoming kids home from school with “After-School Snack & Story Hour.”
  • Daily holiday celebrations just to put more play in your day.
  • Toasting yourself with sparkling water in a champagne flute because you finished the laundry (finally!).
  • Breakfast dance party before everyone goes their separate ways.
  • Make eating by yourself a moment, no matter what the food. Placemat, fancy plate & water glass, flowers if you have them. (No gulping it down while leaning over the sink!)
  • “Remember when we” text or comment at dinner.
  • Choose an “I did it song” to play when you finish paying the bills, clean an awful mess, or to celebrate a small accomplishment. It’s more meaningful if you always play the same song – it’s like saluting yourself.
    • “Walking on Sunshine” – Katrina and the Waves
    • “Happy” – Pharrell Williams
    • “Dancing Queen” – ABBA
    • “Girl on Fire” – Alicia Keys

These are right now celebrations — proof that joy doesn’t have to wait for the BIG days.

Merrymakers know that “quick fun” ideas create a moment of connection — and every day deserves a little confetti & a lot of love.

  6. I say yes to fun, even in five-minute doses.
  7. I know ordinary moments become extraordinary in hindsight.
  8. I share my joy — because it multiplies when given away.
